Written and produced as part of Hotel Riomar Ibiza’s summer campaign promotion, the fictional narrative was meticulously crafted to convey a profound sense of tranquillity and serenity. Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of mythology and the enigmatic mysticism surrounding the island, the campaign aimed to transport viewers to a place of ethereal beauty and peaceful allure.
A Manifesto for Hospitality Design
-
Over 20 years of experience developing brand spaces for arts, fashion, and hospitality uniquely positions us to formulate and create successful and immersive spatially defined experiences. A customised formula of immersion — exploring the values and true essence of a project’s potential to unveil a broadened mindset that becomes the project’s DNA.
This formula evolves and is adapted to each project, never repeated across any activation.
We embrace the transformative power of human-centred design research, delving into the hearts and minds of people to unlock the essence of unforgettable spaces. With an unwavering focus on understanding the needs, motivations, and aspirations of those who will inhabit spaces, our dedicated research team embarks on a journey of discovery. By immersing ourselves in the human experience, we craft spaces that resonate with genuine emotion and authenticity, setting the stage for exceptional interior design solutions.

By embracing new design-lead thinking Vacancy Bureau has pioneered a new form of presenting the ideation of creativity for Hospitality Spaces - to define and create the unforgettable. Future endeavours born out of curiosity, shaped by experience of places, people and the surrounding culture.
Vacancy Bureau researches the potential of a property or space and explores the possibilities through applying its discoveries to the immediate and longer term needs of its clients. This is where the first stage of Uncommon Creativity is applied: cultural immersion, analysis and findings — resulting in a design agenda that can be implemented by architects, designers, and brand leaders.

The importance of place is what drives the exploration of interior experiences. Not just simply to (re)decorate, but to create an experience that feels right. Hotels including public and communal areas, wellness and development zones, F&B and experience spaces are formulated with a deeply personalised approach.
We introduce imaginative styles into the fabric of a space. From the outset, a relationship between architecture, interior and product is the driving force behind the conception of projects inspired by subtle transitions between these disciplines and combined with a spatial design attitude, constantly striving for the essence of the creatively crafted.
The use of pure and tactile materials translates into timeless design. With respect to context and tradition, it’s an approach within which the senses, and the physical experience of space, textures and light place the integrity of the user at its core. Functionality, durability and comfort are the prime components of the work, a visual language not shy to convey aesthetics, but prone to eschew fashion and trends.

Visual design and art are each other’s play things, and art within spaces is as a way of defining elements of emotional architecture to curate or commission art for hospitality environments.
We delight in the subjective nature of art. It’s purpose is to stimulate an emotional response. The critical factor lies in the fundamental quality of the work. Curating art and accessories for brand-defining spaces requires more than good taste and interesting objects.
Exalt environments and experiences with well-conceived, fully realised and engaging art programmes.
Co-ordinate projects with brands and manage commissions across a network of contemporary artists.
Art in hospitality spaces can be as valued as that in galleries, where it can slow or prolong the ticking of the clock and allow people to appreciate their place in the scheme of the world.
Discoveries 2024
Our Uncommon Creativity Department of Research & Development conducted an experimental creative exploration of an imagined hotel property.
Through our research findings and the application of our studio's aesthetic learning to develop a unique experience, we paid careful attention to detail in crafting different aspects of the hotel property. Utilising thorough research and development insights, we have effectively incorporated our artistic preferences to infuse the area with a clearly defined purpose and identity, skilfully interlacing a variety of materials, design elements, and immersive narratives. This experimental and creative exploration presents not only a hotel concept but also a unique and immersive hospitality experience to captivate discerning travellers.

Overview of key strategies
-
Circular economy an approach focused on reducing waste and reusing materials to create a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly design. In the context of architectural interiors, reuse of existing structures and materials, designing for disassembly, and incorporating elements that can be easily repurposed at the end of their lifecycle.
-
A considered, pragmatic, approach is an essential aspect in relation to spatial design and implementation of new technologies. This means focusing on practicality and functionality to create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also serve their intended purpose effectively.
Incorporating new technologies into interior design enhances the pragmatic approach. Smart technology is integrated into the design to make spaces more efficient.
